If I was starting from scratch and just writing for Script Frenzy, I’d probably go for Celtx. Final Draft is a commercial product and costs around US$250. Celtx looks pretty good and from what I can see on the forum it’s free, or reasonably priced at least.

For most people on Windows it comes down to Celtx or Final Draft.

I was reading the Script Frenzy forums last night-anything but write more on my novel, and yes, I am procrastinating-in particular the What software do you use thread. I have never participated in Script Frenzy (yet), but one day I would like to. Those WriMos amongst us will know that they also do a companion challenge called Script Frenzy, which runs through April.
I like the way it kick-starts my writing habits and makes me get down there and just write. This is slightly outside my normal posts about writing novels, but I am a big supporter of NaNoWriMo, even though some years I am too busy to actually participate. Unfortunately, the BBC doesn’t offer the Script Smart Gold template any more. I don’t know what it’s like, but you can get to it in Word and searching for “screenplay” in the online templates field to find it. Microsoft still offers a screenplay temple. This is an old post, and the links I blogged about here don’t exist any more, so I’m not going to fix them. Strange thing is I used the same menu for creating a template and it just asked me where I wanted to save it.A note, four years on, because many people still visit this page. dotx file was on, but to some mysterious temporary file that got deleted at random times. Must be that Word did not save the changes everytime I clicked "yes" to the path the. I have hardly half an idea of what could have been wrong though. You would not believe it but I got no extra dialogs upon saving/closing the document. Word now found this template to create new documents with and I used it in this way. So what I did is move it from the folder it was in to ~\appdata\roaming\microsoft\templates where ~ is my userdir. Upon selecting "my templates", I could not find that template. and while I previously used the MRU in the start menu to create documents based on that template, I now had to do it via Word itself by opening the "New document" menu. I've recently cleared all Windows caches, MRU etc. The template I was talking about was saved in a folder on my data partition.
I think I've just solved this problem, but if the solution is true it would make the cause of it quite odd.

This is about Word 2007 enterprise after a fresh install and all the latest updates / Service Pack, no plugins or external stuff. Have I done anything wrong? What causes Word to always ask this? I've checked if the. Sometimes the same dialog as in the first point (with the exclamation mark) at random times when saving. The dialog is different from the one above, I only get OK and cancel buttons. Random times when saving documents based on it, even though nothing at all has changed in the template itself.Merely opening the template file and trying to close Word.I don't know if doing it that way rather than using some kind of input field is the cause for it, but Word keeps asking me if I want to save changes to the template on the following occasions: On the title page I have things like "subject", "date", "course", "teacher" etc written in plain text and I replace those when I create a new document based on that template. It only contains the title page and the proper standard settings for all the quick markups. I have a Word 2007 template for papers I have to write up for school.
